He has authored 89 books, ranging from short stories and novels to scientific, philosophical, social, and religious books.


Mustafa Mahmoud's books were a continuous migration in search of the truth, and he expressed in his books the stages he went through, such as the materialistic, secular stage, the stage of entering the world of religions, up to the stage of Sufism. Beginnings

Mustafa Kamal Mahmoud Hussein Al Mahfouz, known as “Mustafa Mahmoud,” was born on December 25, 1921, in Shebin El-Koum, Menoufia, Egypt, to a middle-ranking family. children.


Since his childhood, he was a science lover. He owned a small lab at home, and he actually began as a boy making “pesticides” with which to kill cockroaches, and then dissect them, as anatomy was very attractive to him in that early period of his life.


His father fell ill and was paralyzed for several years and died in 1939. Mostafa Mahmoud completed his secondary education and entered the Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, specializing in neurosurgery.


He then moved with his mother from Tanta to Cairo and dropped out of school for two years because of his illness. He spent both of them reading and thinking about literary topics. He practiced writing in his last years of study, and he published short stories for him in the "Rose El-Youssef" magazine, and he worked in it for a while after graduating in 1953. which prompted him to take up writing,


In 1960, when President Abdel Nasser issued a decree prohibiting the combination of two jobs, Mustafa Mahmoud was at the time combining membership in the Doctors and Journalists Syndicates. Therefore, he decided to dispense with membership in the Physicians Syndicate, and deprive himself of practicing the profession forever, preferring to belong to the Syndicate of Journalists and work as a writer and thinker.

Personal life

Mustafa Mahmoud was married twice; The first time was in 1961 to Mrs. Samia, who was Miss Egypt at that time, and the couple had two children, a boy named Adham and a girl named Amal, and in 1973 the couple separated.


Ten years later, he married for the second time a woman named "Zainab Hamdi" in 1983, but this marriage did not last long, and in 1987 he separated from his wife and did not have any children with her. As for Mustafa Mahmoud's religion, beliefs, and original sect, he was born into a Sunni Muslim family

The scientist Mustafa Mahmoud grew up in a generous house next to a Sufi mosque called the Mahatta Mosque, which gained wide fame among the Egyptian people, and this clearly affected the mentality of the scholar Mustafa Mahmoud in terms of the directives he issued and the building of his human personality, which has long been talked about.

On June 2, 2008, the Saudi poet, Faisal Akram, wrote an article in Al-Thaqafia - the weekly edition of Al-Jazeera newspaper entitled (A memory called the mystery of life.. A memory named Mustafa Mahmoud).

At the end of his life and 6 years before his death in 2003, he was isolated from the world and left writing completely until he had a stroke for a while.

Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud passed away on October 31, 2009, after a long treatment journey at the age of 88, and the funeral was held from his mosque in Mohandessin.





Achievements

Mustafa Mahmoud is the author of 89 books, covering various topics and fields, some of them scientific, some philosophical, some literary, political, social, and religious. I also mastered writing plays and stories.

Where he wrote the book "The Mystery of Death" in 1959, in 1961 he wrote "Einstein and Relativity", wrote "The Qur'an an attempt to understand modernity" in 1969, and in 1970 he wrote his famous book "My Journey from Doubt to Faith".
